Emerson wins

A few days ago a dream contained an encouraging message. Things aren’t as bad as they look on the surface. Give people a chance.

Semi Bird has been running for governor of this “state” on a clear and firm anti-muzzle and anti-vax and anti-lockdown agenda. The last time I checked he seemed to be losing and fading.

Wrong! He was resoundingly endorsed by the state Repooflicans, who had REFUSED to endorse and help Loren Culp when he ran on the same agenda in 2020.

Happy Ending! Bird still won’t win, because no Repooflican can possibly win here. But the endorsement shows that the party has changed its ways. Maybe politics is not entirely beyond salvation after all.

Emerson: The checks to a new evil do not appear at first. But the checks exist and will appear.

Sidenote: The party has ALSO changed its tune in a deeper and more lasting way. In 1996 the Repoofs rejected a PERFECT candidate because she was black. I rarely attribute decisions to “racism”; there’s usually a far more significant reason for likes and dislikes. Race is NOT the first thing on the mind of normal people. Race was demonstrably and provably the ONLY thing on the mind of the Repoofs. Nona Brazier was demonstrably and provably superior to Ellen Craswell in every possible way. Brazier was an electrifying and persuasive public speaker, she was solidly “conservative” without any quibbles, and she had long managerial experience. Craswell was probably a nice lady, but totally unqualified as a candidate for governor. She only had one good quality. She was white.
