Saagar reviews the parallel between 1968 and now in politics. He doesn’t hit the points as solidly as Greenwald, who got EVERYTHING right.
Saagar shows a printout of the campaign debut speech by Bobby Senior. He chose K-State for the announcement, and the printout starts by greeting Gov Docking and Sen Pearson (misspelled as Pierson in the printout.) Docking was a Democrat, which was typical of Kansas politics but probably looked like a Red State Wedge Point to Bobby.
Whether Bobby knew it or not, K-State was a uniquely appropriate site to start an antiwar campaign. K-State students had been the FIRST to protest violently against the war, burning down a building in 1962. Their specific complaint was mandatory ROTC, which was troublesome at an ag school in a state where many farmers were Mennonites.
