Old thought: It always helps to look at the real profits from a movement. Coal and oil production have reached the highest levels in history, and every environmental law “coincidentally” makes coal more attractive and necessary, in the places where it’s still allowed. This mainly means China, but several US states still rely on coal for electricity.

New thought: Nuclear power doesn’t have a political protector because it doesn’t involve huge resource industries.
Why not?
BECAUSE FISSION IS THE MOST EFFICIENT POWER SOURCE BY AN ALMOST INFINITE PROPORTION.
The amount of uranium needed for a typical reactor in a year is teensy. One typical reactor uses 27 tons of uranium per year, which is about the same weight as the gasoline used by ten typical cars in a year. A coal power plant of the same output uses 2.5 million tons of coal per year.
Right now there are about 90 operating reactors, so their total fuel usage is about the same as a thousand cars. One parking lot. You can’t base a huge dominant industry on feeding one parking lot.
Thanks to Gene Nelson for triggering this new thought!

Semi-relevant sidenote, since I was writing about the Shared Lies of Obamacare earlier. Harry Reid of Nevada was responsible for ruining both of these projects. Obama was originally open to genuine single-payer Medicare For All, but Harry Reid forced him to take Romneycare.
We had a storage site for used uranium built and ready to run, which would have eliminated one fake “disadvantage” of nukes. Harry Reid closed it before it could start serving. Now we assume that it doesn’t exist and can’t be done. One more Shared Lie. Harry Reid is dead but his evil zombie legacy is unstoppable.
