I wrote this as a comment elsewhere. Should have written it here first. It’s a good summation of my overall viewpoint on life. I started turning in this direction in 1978, then solidified the viewpoint in 2012 after I threw away the TV.
We’re not designed to be “free”. Social animals are designed to be enmeshed in a network of taboos and obligations. The Endarkenment falsely defined the network as “censorship” and “slavery” so the robber barons could be free of all taboos and obligations.
