Craig Wright continues to provide the perfect exemplar of the Professional Criminal. The pro lives to cheat. He will do dishonest things every second of every day. He will always choose the dishonest way to do every task, even if it’s harder and more costly and more damaging to his own case. Contrary to popular myths, criminals are NOT lazy.
The pro is also supremely confident in his own ability to fool every sucker, even after his abilities are publicly shown to be mediocre.
Now that a British court has determined that Wright is not Satoshi, and thus commits fraud every time he claims to be Satoshi, the court is trying to decide on a penalty. According to the stories, prison is possible but not likely. He will certainly be required to pay lots of money to the plaintiffs, and he will be prohibited from suing again. Both requirements would be easy to enforce. British courts could simply refuse to accept his daily lawsuits. He could also be banned from making any public statements on social media, which would be unenforceable without prison.
The pro criminal never stops. DURING the first trial he put out a new book reinforcing the lie and painting himself as a victim.

Note for clarity: This situation is hard to place in a broader moral perspective because bitcoin itself is a sting and a fraud. Restricting the focus to Wright makes it easier to evaluate. He is a pro criminal. He would be cheating people no matter what vehicle he chose. Locking him up is good for the public welfare.
If he chose a more honest vehicle for his fraud, like claiming to be the inventor of Legos, the broad picture would be clearer but he would still deserve exactly the same punishment for the harm he did to the suckers.
