Vaccinations have been experimentally proved for 500 years. They are unquestionably effective against certain types of viruses, and have saved millions of lives. Vaccinations have never worked against the common cold, so there was no reason to expect them to work against the common cold in 2020, even after it was hyped into a fake nuclear bomb.
I’ve discussed the history of the antivax movement many times. At first it was mainly found among obscure religious types and Birchers. In the 70s it shifted to hippie environmentalists. Before 2020 an antivaxer was likely to be a high-status hippie.
