Maybe it was….

Stoller finally figures out that Trump is a fraud.

SOME OF US figured it out a lot sooner. After his inauguration I kept waiting for the promised action, saw a couple of changes that looked good, but no steady movement. If you want to reform an organization, you need to hit hard in the first second of the first day, and keep hitting hard for as long as it takes.

I keep up with the Weather Bureau’s twitter feed for their occasionally correct predictions and warnings. Before Jan 20, 2017 they had been routinely Gaian, attributing every storm to Carbon. On Jan 20 they suddenly started self-censoring, sticking to facts. In early March they resumed regular Gaian programming. The pattern was clear. Bureaucrats know how to play the game. When a “new broom” comes in, they try to please him until they determine that he’s the same old broom. Presumably they got word from the DC office that the Trumpstorm, which looked impressive on radar, had fizzled out.

I regret that I didn’t heed some New Yorkers who figured him out from EXPERIENCE. In 2016 I was tuned into Money Talk shows on radio. Some of the hosts were New Yorkers who had been dealing with Trump in real estate for decades, and they warned that he was a faker. They had seen him break every promise, defraud every partner and employee, and leave all bills unpaid.

My prejudice against New Yorkers kept me from hearing their truth. Everything ELSE they said was obvious bullshit, designed to move a favored stock up or down. The radar image of Trump opposed Wall Street, so I assumed these Wall Street characters wanted to discredit Trump. Maybe their public dislike was just the usual stock-moving propaganda, but it was also true.

Later: In hindsight, the Money Talk dislike was NOT just painting the tape. As Stoller points out, New Yorkers now publicly love Trump because he killed all small business and gave the stock criminals trillions of free dollars. He also promises to fire Jerome Powell, who did more good for this miserable country than anyone since FDR. Presumably the hosts knew in 2016 that Trump was generally on their side, so their public dislike at that time was NOT serving their own greed.
