Unusually good question

Somebody on substack asked a sharp question.

Would a new draft start a civil war?

Normally I ignore threats of a civil war. Side R expects Side D to start a civil war and vice versa. This specific question might be valid.

Our warmakers have been able to run wild since 1975 because there’s no draft. Vietnam cured their wildness for a while. When officers fear the privates more than the enemy, the hierarchy gathers that a totally pointless war is not a smart idea.

With the all-volunteer army, the privates are self-selected to be warlovers who want to fight whether the purpose is bad or good.

WW2 was our only justified war, and it was the only war where ordinary men, even the sons of rich and important people, volunteered quickly with no propaganda needed.

Truman tried Korea, but the draft forced normal people to recognize that it wasn’t our war and wasn’t worth fighting. Ike beat Stevenson easily, and KEPT HIS PROMISE to pull out. After Ike was gone, Deepstate gradually started churning up evil wars again, and snuck into Vietnam through the side entrance. Protests started immediately, but there was no media attention until 1969 when the war was purchased by the wrong brand.

If the draft resumes now, it won’t be gradual. We have three or four unjustified evil wars running at the same time. The delta will be sudden, and the response will be sudden.
