Partial debunk

While I’m thinking about cars and conventional wisdom, here’s another partial debunk. Every auto historian says that Ford ventured out on a limb by featuring safety in ’56, then walked it back later. Partly true. Ford was alone in trying to sell safety. Almost everyone, Big Three and independents, started offering seat belts and padded dashes in ’56, and continued as options until the feds required them in ’67.
