One commentator observed that unlike most other top politicians Biden never had a fanbase. He was NOT a crowd-pleaser. He dealt solely with other politicians and donors.
At first I agreed with the implication that Biden is unusual.
Second thought: No, Biden is typical. Politicians with cults or fanbases rarely make it to the presidency. Most presidents in both parties were insiders. Trump is the only recent exception. Going back, Reagan was another exception and another Hollywood type. The Kennedys had vast fanbases. That’s about all.
