HR from the past

This film was aimed at recruiting new postal employees. It starts by reading the inscription on the entrance of the main office in DC, with a couple of additions:

= = = = = START QUOTE:

The postal service. Messenger of sympathy and love. Servant of parted friends. Consoler of the lonely. Bond of a scattered family. Enlarger of the common life. Carrier of news and knowledge. Instrument of trade and industry. Promoter of mutual acquaintance, of peace and goodwill.

= = = = = END QUOTE.

You wouldn’t hear such inspiring language from any HR department now, let alone the government! Lawyers would instantly disassemble it and replace it by meaningless buzzwords.
