I’m tired of people who believe (or pretend to believe) that the media used to be fair and objective. They want it to return to its pre-Eden purity when it published the Pentagon Papers and Watergate. Both of those revelations are PROOF of unfairness. The Papers, which were written in the ’60s, were “revealed” in 1971. Watergate was about Nixon’s dirty tricks, which were identical to LBJ’s dirty tricks. In both cases the scandal existed during D administrations, and the media KNEW about the scandal before 1969. They waited until the wrong party was in charge to publish the scandal.
Radio and TV were fair and objective from 1934 to the 1980s because the FCC CENSORED THEM HARSHLY to enforce fairness and objectivity. Newspapers weren’t under the FCC, so they were always partisan. Since the ’80s all media are like newspapers.
The same fake belief applies to academia. The pretenders want us to think that universities were a haven for “free debate” until the current Woke fad. Equally false. Universities developed from seminaries, which were training schools for orthodox priests. Nothing has changed. The entire structure of academia is designed from top to bottom to select and promote the most orthodox faculty.
Only one thing is new. Before 2010 each subject had its own set of orthodox doctrines, usually unrelated to party politics.. Quantum in physics, behaviorism in psychology, etc. Now all subjects select first for Democrat party membership and then for adherence to the currently fashionable theory.
