I like Quora better than other platforms for several reasons.
1. It’s easy to stay focused on one subject. If you like jokes, the algorithm will feed you jokes. If you like programming, the algo will feed you programming. Substack pays no attention to your preferences at all. It just obsesses on one subject at a time, hammering you with this one thing until you get disgusted and leave.
2. Many of the writers have interesting experiences and tell stories about their life. Substack has very little story-telling. It’s mostly writing about writing, not writing about life.
3. This is a beautiful example of the best reason. Somebody asked a detailed question about whether systematic debugging was better than an automatic checker like Lint. The AUTHOR OF LINT answered the question with the best possible authority! Several big names in tech are frequent writers on Quora, and they’re involved in answering questions like everyone else. They don’t act like superstars.
