Workers are quiet quitting.
Politicians are noisy superquitting.
They not only spend enormous energy in preventing themselves from working, they PREVENT REAL HUMANS FROM GETTING SHIT DONE. Any attempt to put together a big project is stalled endlessly by an infinite pile of Federal regulations and compliances and lawsuits and obstructions.
Government used to accomplish shit. From Harding to especially FDR to Ike, and even later under Clinton, government was able to start and finish big useful projects. Dams, parks, highways, canal systems, flood control, social insurance systems.
Locally the North-south Corridor is a perfect example. It was needed in the 50s, and was planned in the 50s. If it had been built in the 50s it would have taken one or two years. Construction finally started in 2000. It’s still half done, might be done by 2030. THIRTY YEARS for an interstate bypass. Every foot was bogged down in loony EPA monstrosities and Indigenous lawsuits.
