Policlicks

I know I’m writing solid stuff when I have exactly zero readers for a long time. The only items that get readers are the occasional stupid mentions of political crap. The rule is getting more and more solid.

In the last two weeks I’ve written several pieces about Mutual Benefit Societies, and some historical items that required a bit of research. No readers. The only read was an item that mentioned Trump in the title.

Nobody wants facts or history or science, even when the history shows a possible way to restore civilization. Everybody wants meaningless partisan nonsense.

The Fairness Doctrine helped to level the ground a bit by prohibiting broadcasters from feeding and amplifying Machiavellian divisions. Broadcasters had to find other ways to please the audience, so they did. Some of the other ways were trivial, but entertainment is supposed to be trivial. Broadcasters weren’t helping the rulers to play the oldest game in the world under the guise of “informing the citizens”.

Later and better thought: Though this disconnect is always annoying, it’s irrelevant. This blog is NOT a business for money. Back in 2005 I briefly thought it might be monetizable, but figured out the reality quickly. It’s solely for my own mental and physical exercise, more important as I get older. The tech history pieces maintain and improve my graphics and animation skills, improving the next courseware project which IS for money. Writing “toward an audience” has an editing function, shaping me toward clarity and meaning, even though I know the audience is occasional and sparse.
