I would love…

The activists are cheering at Trump’s appointment of Bhattacharya to NIH.

Bhattacharya is good in a lukewarm way**.

Trump appointed plenty of good people in 2016, serious populists and non-interventionists who could have made a difference if he had let them. He didn’t. He quickly fired all of the good people and let Deepstate grow even stronger and nastier than it was before, then committed the worst crime in recent history.

I would dearly LOVE to see a real turnaround in ANYTHING, but 8 years of consistent disappointment and disgust aren’t good odds.

In 2020 Trump shut down all small business and handed trillions to Bezos and Zuck and the other tech tyrants. Enriched the rich and ruined the poor. This time he’s openly collaborating with Elon, the most Deepstate-connected of the tech tyrants. Doesn’t bode well for a reversal.

** For clarity: The Brownstone and Great Barrington crowd are careful semi-reformers. They were NOT arguing to maintain real medicine and real public health as formed by 200 years of real experimentation. They were only arguing for a slightly less extreme violation of all science and laws and rules and morality. Bureaucrats can pacify semi-reformers by granting fake exemptions here and there. The only cure for evil is to remove ALL evil leaders and take away their power to control money.

Later for even more clarity: After listening to this podcast, I changed my mind about Bhattacharya. He was quietly but FIRMLY opposed to the muzzles and lockdowns. I was conflating him with the weak-willed Brownstone group. If he gets a chance to take charge, he could make a serious difference. I apologize!

The real question is whether Trump will let him take charge. In 2016 Trump appointed several serious populists, then quickly fired all of them and let Wall Street take over again. Most of Trump’s other choices this time are Wall Street from the start.
