New thought: I’ve been missing the best and most modern example of MBS!
Native tribes! They’re FRATERNAL with a vengeance, in a way that would be blatantly illegal for other ethnic groups. Cherokees have been kicking out Pretendians for a century, requiring serious genealogical proof of bloodlines. There’s a good reason for the strictness: WEALTH.
The tribes use their mutual bullypower to provide major BENEFITS to the members, not just life and health insurance. When oil was discovered on Cherokee and Osage land in the new Oklahoma, both tribes set up funds to distribute the royalties to members. The Osage distributed more than the national median income to each member for decades.
Now some of the tribes have casinos, and they use the money from the casinos the same way.
If other ethnicities and lodges had pursued the MBS model with the same enthusiasm and grabbed new business opportunities with the same sharpness, we’d have much less inequality.
