Duane Jones was frustrated when his ad agency was hired by the Dewey campaign in 1948. He was assigned to run national radio advertising for RNC. Jones understood the Electoral College and wanted to concentrate his firepower on the six swing states. The RNC insisted on spending money equally across all states. They also understood the Electoral College, but they needed to keep the state Repooflican leaders happy. If the leaders in solid Repoof states saw very little advertising by the campaign, they would feel offended and try to overthrow the national leaders.
A real business doesn’t work this way. A real business needs to keep existing customers happy FIRST before adding more. It’s better to hold a reliable base of Pepsi voters or Chevy voters. Converting swing voters from Coke or Ford is risky and uncertain.
Politics is peculiar. Politics is solely about getting more customers than the opposition on one specific day, in the few precincts where people really vote. It doesn’t matter if the solid Repoof states are happy or unhappy. Their votes DO NOT EXIST.
This year the DNC made the same mistake as the Dewey campaign, trying to keep the activists and party operatives happy. If they had been trying to sell Harris to VOTERS in the few precincts that really vote, they would have focused solely on Lina Khan’s heroic work to break up monopolies and bring back FDR’s restrictions on the stock murder machine. Instead they just incessantly screeched incoherent garble about nonsense schizy lunatic word salad like DEMOCRACY and FASCISM and AUTHORITARIANISM and JANUARY_6_VIOLENT_INSURRECTION.
Loony activists need to hear loony word salad. Word salad doesn’t pay the rent and feed the kids. Breaking monopolies helps to pay the rent and feed the kids. Khan was specifically working to break up the landlord crime syndicate, the grocery crime syndicate and the mass-murdering Dow terrorist gang.
