“Local” radio and TV and newspapers are collapsing, while informal online groups like local Facebook pages are trusted.
From Spokane News FB page, a serious incident in the Valley area:
Headline:
E 22nd Ave & S Pines Rd. Stabbing reported. PD on scene requesting medics for a Stabbing. PD searching canvassing the area for the suspect.
Some of the users chiming in:
Scanner says 10 mins before this happen the suspect was going door to door looking for work… looks to be male around 21 yrs of age long sandy brown hair…. glasses…. wearing all black hoodie etc…
Several people saw the aftermath, which was apparently gruesome.
Now here’s KXLY’s vague garble:
Officers said there had been a fight between two people in the street when one stabbed the other. The stabbing victim was taken to the hospital; police did not immediately disclose that person’s condition.
It was not immediately known if the two knew each other, or what the motive of the fight and stabbing was.
I could barely read the bland ‘person’ and ‘people’ shit behind dozens of random videos and ads popping up all over the screen. Totally garbled viewing.
Two choices. (1) Read first-person experience, unfiltered and ungarbled, or (2) Try to read vague meaningless HR jargon amid the flashing and popping of even more meaningless crap.
Ideally we’d have first-person experience with some fact-checking, but that choice is NOT available. So I pick (1), and polls indicate most folks agree.
The overlawyered HR jargon is NOT new. Local newspapers started playing this game in the 80s, and they started to lose readers. People need to KNOW WHAT’S HAPPENING, with enough detail to beware of specific criminals or trouble zones.
Note that the suspect is white, which is generally true here. Spokane doesn’t have a large black or migrant population, and most of the black folks are middle-class family types. Nearly all criminals and fentanyl deaths are white. So the Diverse/HR vagueness doesn’t make sense here even by the stupid standards of Diverse tyrants. It’s not “protecting” anyone.
