Nobody gives a fuck. Politicians never discuss this. I don’t see anyone in national media discussing it.
By comparison, local traffic deaths were only 40. Politicians worry about traffic deaths.
Local officials play idiotic symbol games, introducing “programs” that spend money without solving anything. They’re proud of spending money on “programs”, which only benefit the heads of NGOs.
URBANists, whose name might imply that they worry about URBAN problems, ignore the biggest URBAN problem of all. Instead, URBANists try to reduce the square footage for off-street parking, and create “traffic calming” gimmicks to save pedestrian lives. In fact “traffic calming” gimmicks make walking MORE dangerous, not less.
