Philco = medieval

The Philco Rule:

Sell merchandise that doesn’t come back to customers who do come back.

Good manufacturers avoid quantity. They make high-quality products that don’t come back, and they interact with customers to maintain the products.

Good lawyers avoid trials and judgments. They negotiate and interact to reach a plea deal or a settlement.

Good doctors avoid surgery and drugs. They negotiate and interact to improve nutrition and habits.

Good dentists avoid fillings and implants. They keep customers loyal with regular cleaning, and avoid upselling the more drastic methods.

Good food producers avoid waste. They make products that can be stored well (cheese, wine, bread, salted meat) and show customers how to preserve.

Good clothiers make clothes that can be worn for years, and provide tailoring and mending to customers.

The Philco Rule is also the medieval rule. Maintenance and relationships matter more than quantity and money. Peasants stayed on the same land for life and used the same tools for a long time. Everyone participated and related, paid and received, providing and perfecting their distinctive skills naturally. The landowner was part of the two-way interaction. He maintained peasants who were too old or young to work, and took a share of their food and money in return.
