Question seen on Reddit’s Buttcoin (anti-bitcoin) group:
What is the single biggest reason you DON’T believe in Bitcoin?
Most of the answers included the usual correct reasons. It has no value, can’t be spent or saved, only makes a few people rich by swindling others.
This is the most elegant answer by my standards:
A solved equation on a pentium is not money.
My usual answer is a bit more complete: a database or list is not money. A list can keep track of anything, including money, but a list of things isn’t a thing.
Several commenters claimed to disbelieve because they believe in bitcoin more fervently than anyone else.
Two examples:
Because I don’t believe that the government will enforce contracts done in a currency that limits their money printing.
Governments with a strong system of laws and enforcement will never embrace electronic assets which cannot reliably be seized by court orders.
In other words, bitcoin is so radiantly holy and perfect, so infinitely superior to lowly filthy fiat, that no mere mortals will ever use it.
This is the deepest and most convoluted stupidity I’ve ever seen!!!!!
