Following on Harper’s observations about Canada vs US in his discussion of flags.
US bureaucracies and journalists and academics are responding to Trump’s cuts by protesting and petitioning.
Canada is responding to Trump’s cuts by altering its behavior to SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
The PROBLEM in both cases is too much dependence on US government and US corporations.
The difference between answers is the SAME now as in 1776. Canada ADAPTS to external requirements to maintain its own economy and culture. US is refusing to ADAPT to the new conditions.
In fact our system was explicitly designed to REMOVE the adaptations and feedback loops built into parliament. We decided to follow FALSE theories and CRAZY ideas. We decided to keep the same arbitrary LIES rigidly locked in place forever, never listening or responding or adapting to anything.
Permanent fact: When dealing with a psychopath, protesting and petitioning will make things worse. 1776 proved it. Adapting and staying under the radar is always the best approach.
