Speaking of dissipating clouds, we’ve been getting BLESSEDLY NICE WEATHER for a couple weeks now, after a supercold and nasty month. Clear skies, lows around 30, highs in the 50s. Thanks, weather gods!
The local weather bureau shows a neat animation of satellite views. You can see the broad snowcover on most of the western US, and you can see fog forming in river valleys overnight then dissipating with sunrise.
If Trump had decimated NOAA in 2017 I would have cheered. At that point they had been devoting too much effort to Gaian propaganda and not enough to simple information. After Biden took over they calmed down, and amazingly they DIDN’T return to Gaia in 2024. They’re still doing their assigned job.
Now I’m unhappy to see Elon cutting them down. It appears that he wants to let corporations take over weather information. The corporate sources (eg weather.com, weather underground) have never stopped the Gaian destruction. Along with the basic radar and forecasts, most of their web activity is Gaian stupidity.
Lesson: When bureaucrats break out of Parkinson and perform their assigned mission (as IRS and SS and Medicare and USPS always do), people will appreciate them and try to defend them. When bureaucrats obey Parkinson and engage in corruption and propaganda instead of doing their goddamn job, people will be glad to see them go.
