The supremes did the right thing for goddamn once!
The city of San Francisco, heartland of Gaian loonies, has been carefully following the original rules for controlling sewer outflows into the ocean. The original 1972 environmental rules are mostly good, mostly restriction of truly nasty stuff like lead and sulfur dioxide. The crazy shit came later when Gaians turned away from real pollution and started destroying all life by prohibiting CO2, a NECESSARY NUTRIENT FOR PLANTS.
The EPA’s new rules punished the city for the overall condition of the ocean water, not for what it was actually pouring into the ocean. That’s crazy and evil by every standard of law or morality or logic, environmental or not. Amazingly the Green City sued the crazy EPA, and even more amazingly the supremes agreed!
I wonder if this will leave a precedent for the even crazier rules that forced Spokane to spend $200 million building miasmal swamps and flood-makers in every neighborhood to slow down a nearly nonexistent phosphate “contaminant” because the phosphate might encourage algae that EAT CO2. The hypercrazy rule didn’t even help to absorb PLANT NUTRITION and certainly didn’t make the city cleaner. It only made the city poorer and dirtier and less able to afford REAL pollution controls.
