Rich people NEED to know who controls Congress because rich people can influence politicians. Non-rich don’t need to know because we recognize that we have no influence. Voting is a Machiavellian gimmick. I need to know details about my house because I’m in charge of improving and maintaining it. I don’t need to know about some house in some city 3000 miles away, because I’ll never SEE that house let alone fix or maintain it.

What’s he doing right now? Learning the fine details of the government under the guise of “auditing it for the public good”.

What’s he REALLY doing? He’s researching a stock trade. Banks always research or audit before they make a loan or investment. Banks usually rely on standard investigators like Price Waterhouse or Moodys. Big stock traders pay for their own investigators before deciding to destroy or LBO a company. Buffett says he spends 80% of his work time reading reports, not buying and selling.

Elon is doing highly detailed research on his LBO so he can crash it expertly and cheaply.
