In previous item I mentioned that the Hudsons Bay Company had been the first explorer of the Columbia basin around here. Now it turns out that Trump is fucking with the Columbia along with every other damn thing. The Columbia starts in BC and flows into Wash, then turns west toward the ocean. Water is technically an export, thus Trump wants to screw it up.
A treaty has been around for a long time determining the proportions that each country gets for irrigation and hydropower and such. Both countries get MAJOR hydropower from the Columbia, and its mouth serves as a major port. Trump started to renegotiate the treaty during his first term in 2018, and as usual the idiot Democrats didn’t work hard enough to fix things. The revision was still underway when Trump grabbed power again, and now he is “pausing” the treaty.
This is part of the carefully orchestrated LBO. The predator hits the victim on all sides with obstacles and costs and debts and troubles and “accidents” until the victim collapses. The predator takes over the victim with no payment and sells off the assets.
If Canada wanted to get nasty it could announce plans to reroute the upper Columbia into the Fraser river watershed, eliminating the “unwanted import” forever.
