Speaking of beautiful old infrastructure…
An old system is SUSTAINABLE by definition. Whether it’s a house or a car or a coal power plant, maintaining it and using it are CLEANER than building a new one. (As long as it’s still working properly.)
Good news:
An upstate New York coal plant has been restarted! Yay! Classic beauty continues to provide USEFUL benefits.
Bad news:
Who’s using it? A bitcoin “miner” who MISuses the sweat and labor of REAL coal miners to fake-mine a meaningless swindle. The only USE of bitcoin is crime and theft and loss.
= = = = =
Later and more indirect thought… The fact that a coal plant CAN be restarted in NEW YORK proves yet again that environmentalism is solely about enriching the rich and ruining the poor. It’s not about the environment. Power companies COULD have restarted the coal, but their shareholders were committed to DEI/ESG and wouldn’t approve. Bitcoin is openly operated by Larry Fink now, and was quietly operated by the banking class before Fink took it over. What Larry wants, Larry gets.
Or in classic NYC terms, Who’s asking?
