Elbows up in Europe

The Ankler reporting on Euro show biz:

= = = = = START ANKLER:

Now that we’ve had close to a month to digest Donald Trump’s America-first trade policies, I’m beginning to hear more about the projected impact on the industry, and producers’ “sharp elbows” strategy.

“Buy fewer Teslas and U.S. shows, and more Peugeots and European series!” shouted one French producer down the phone. It’s rare these days to get through a conversation with anyone from the continent without hearing of the mission to protect European culture.

= = = = = END ANKLER.

Sharp elbows = elbows up. Or les elbeaux hautes?

Europe and Canada SHOULD have been protecting their own culture and skills and makers ALREADY. They were doing the right thing before the surge of globalism in the 1980s. They shouldn’t have surrendered for 40 years.

The US situation was different in causation but similar in results. We’ve been surrendering to China for 40 years. Our own corporations were gladly HANDING our economy to China. A responsible government would have restrained them, not aided them.
