The correct history

This article fills in the CORRECT history of the 1700s, when the NYC robber barons rebelled against British rule and asserted the theoretical “right” of robber barons to take everything. Canada remained with the crown and parliament, and retained the old experimentally determined EQUIPOISE between government and citizens.

Our textbooks and media never told us the CORRECT history, but Canada remembers it.

The American War of Independence created not one country but two. The “United Empire Loyalists,” who opposed the revolutionary war, migrated or else fled north when they were attacked. Between 80,000 and 100,000 people moved, about half to what was then British North America, though some later returned.

The influx of Loyalists changed the demography of British North America, which hitherto had been largely French speaking. They provided the foundation for a distinct country in North America. In place of USA’s “life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness” it emphasized “peace, order and good government,” a phrase that appears throughout Canadian law and politics, including the 1867 Constitution Act.

This historic Canadian sensibility was summarized by the late Canadian philosopher George Grant:

“It was an inchoate desire to build, in these cold and forbidding regions, a society with a greater sense of order and restraint than freedom-loving republicans would allow. It was no better defined than a kind of suspicion that we in Canada could be less lawless and have a greater sense of propriety than the United States.”

Canadians realize the basic facts of civilization. You need firm rules about behavior if you want real freedom of thought. I learned this lesson HARD AND FAST in prison. I learned about the three types of people (the Sad, the Bad and the Mad) and I learned that there’s a critical gap between the criminal types and the normal types. After the Hippie era, the ultimate expression of 1776 craziness, had given me a set of bizarre expectations, I learned that the police are NECESSARY to protect normal people from crazies.

CRIMINALS WANT FREEDOM. NORMAL PEOPLE WANT SECURITY.

The 1776 rebels were criminals of the Mad type, megalomaniacs and psychopaths. They needed to own everything with no obligations. Receive all money, never pay money. So they developed a system of government and a pattern of propaganda that would justify their all-grasping greed. The founding document is based on a series of obvious self-serving lies stated flatly as “self-evident truths”.

In fact people are different, not identical. In fact “rights” are a concept invented by the Mad. “Rights” are NOT mentioned anywhere in the bible or other scriptures. In all scriptures God talks about our DUTY to maintain civilization, and the DUTY of the rich and powerful to take care of the less powerful, or at least avoid slaughtering and strangling the less powerful. Previous systems of Natural Law were built on the DUTY. They required government to RESTRAIN the Mad and Bad so normal people could have SECURITY.

Canadians know the difference between psychopaths and normal humans. They weren’t fooled. The old British system, though departed considerably from Natural Law, was still EXPERIMENTALLY FORMED by a desire to maintain those DUTIES. Canada kept the SCIENTIFICALLY FORMED principles, while NYC forced a CRAZY THEORY on the lower half of the continent.
