Blog rule

One of my firm blog rules: When I see a Crosley or a Bantam I have to post it!

From Billboard mag in 1948, Tower Records was using a pretty girl in a Crosley as a sales ambassador.

Leads to another random thought. GM is always considered the Styling Leader. In fact it was the last follower. Usually Ford started trends and GM picked them up. The straight-through fender line, also called slab-sided, was started by Crosley in 1946. Kaiser followed in ’47, then Packard and Hudson in ’48, Nash and Ford in ’49, Mercury and Lincoln in ’52, Plymouth and Dodge in ’53, and GM halfway in ’54. You could argue that GM’s version wasn’t truly straight because there was always a dip around the rear door. GM didn’t go absolutely straight from front to back until ’61.
