The LLV is actually pretty fun. It’s one of my favorite parts of this job.
It’s pretty interesting driving a vehicle that’s older than me – especially in 2025. I was born in ’91 and the ones I use are usually from the late 80s. Having said that, it feels pretty damn alive. It’s a piece of crap that maneuvers so well and I honestly miss that when I was driving a 2000 Civic way back. It was simple, didn’t put much thought into it and just used it as an appliance. I could feel basically everything from hitting the gas to the road surface. Now cars today don’t really give you that anymore.

He’s an analog man, a Foy Rebellion man. He has the same spirit as my manual choke Grandpa, who tried to convey the message to me before he died. It’s important to have a simple car that you can understand and fix by yourself, and it’s important to have direct control over the car. Apply that to life, and you’ve got Foy.
A simple machine has its own life, willing to work with your life as long as you negotiate properly. A software-controlled machine has Elon’s life. No negotiation possible. The machine is designed from top to bottom to guarantee that Elon wins every time.

Local note: When I first moved here in 1990 the PO was still using Jeep Dispatchers. They switched to LLVs soon after that, then around 2021 they started using ordinary civilian vans, mostly Dodge Promasters.
