Compact Mag, always overthinking, describes Elon’s departure as a failed alliance of two classes against the “clerisy”.
Nope. Trump and Elon don’t represent any groups or classes at all.
Representing is EMPHATICALLY NOT what a psychopath does.
The alliance and its breakup can be fully explained by three qualities of psychopaths.
1. A psychopath doesn’t represent or serve anyone. He controls and owns and harms and breaks and destroys everyone and everything.
2. Overconfidence is another basic quality, shared with the more common Professional Criminal** type. The psychopath KNOWS that he’s superior to everyone and KNOWS that he will always win.
That’s the key to Elon’s alliance. He was CERTAIN that he could control Trump. He didn’t reckon on Trump’s superior psychopathic talents.
3. A third basic psychopath quality is CONSTANT CHANGE. Rules shift every day and loyalties shift every day. Everyone who tries to form alliances with Trump or work for Trump, whether they’re psychopaths or not, finds out FAST that promises and contracts DO NOT EXIST in the world of a psychopath. Only Innovative Disruption exists.

One substacker picked up an unrelated and more uniquely Trumpian quality:
The public breakup of two aging divas is appropriate for Pride Month.
In an earlier era this would be Liberace and Oscar Levant. Trump is exactly Liberace, but Elon doesn’t quite fit the type.

** Professional criminals aren’t driven to harm and destroy and break things. Instead they’re driven to cheat, to do everything the dishonest way. Pro criminals can be highly productive in sales jobs that harness confidence and cheating toward constructive ends.
