The opposition party in Canada lost its support when Trudeau and Carney suddenly started doing the right thing. At the time I said that Poilievre should have declared victory and gone home.
New thought: With real products, hardware or software, you don’t declare victory after the product launches and starts selling. At that point you switch into quality control mode, ready to handle reports of problems. You don’t keep introducing new variations until the current version is well established.
Advocates (including unions) should do the same. After the other side gives you what you really wanted, switch to quality control mode. Make it clear that you’re watching for reversions to the old way, and keep track of progress.
Above all DON’T suddenly make new demands that weren’t part of your original proposal, and DON’T switch to standard political trivia like plagiarism and personal behavior.
