Aside from the obvious male vs female, the widest and most permanent divide is risk takers vs risk avoiders. This divide started LONG before humans or mammals, so in the grand scheme it’s deeper than male vs female. Every life form including bacteria has bold and timid types.
Men and women can often understand or empathize with the opposite sex. Riskers and non-riskers, gamblers and savers, can’t hope to understand the opposite type.
I’m a saver. I can’t IMAGINE why you’d want to throw away all of your money on a 1/100 or 1/10000000000000000 chance of getting more. Bitcoin, stocks, casinos, all equally alien.
Gamblers can’t IMAGINE why you’d want to hold onto what you’ve worked hard to earn. The whole point of earning is to throw it down the toilet. Obviously this isn’t how they see it, but I can’t conceive of how such a mind works!
The most extreme risk-takers of all are the Effective Altruist Tech Tyrants, who are perfectly willing to risk EVERYONE ELSE’S LIFE on their bets. LBO pirates (Romney, Soros) are similar. They ruin thousands of businesses or entire countries in order to gain a few extra billion.

This rant was triggered by the commenters on Wolf’s latest look at savings vs stocks. Both species are there, showing the mutual alienness nicely.
