Unsurprising

Chad “Misty” Horne hasn’t been released yet, but it’s a safe bet that he will be. Here’s part of the Jail Roster for today:

Six charges of 2nd degree arson, max sentence would be 60 years if consecutive. Only $1000 bond, and listed as “bondable”. Typically the bondsman will charge 10% up front to make the bail, and collect the rest if the prisoner runs. So $100 will get him out.

For comparison, when I was arrested for possessing pot in 1969, my bail was $10000, equivalent to about $80000 now. The sentence was 2-15 and I ended up serving 6 months in Mansfield plus 4 years probation.

Horne is lucky that he didn’t do something SERIOUS like distributing “right-wing” political pamphlets.
