I started to write a silly piece with some wordplay.
After pushing Add New Post, WordPress gave me a single line with 1 at the left.
Each time I hit Enter it adds a new line with a new ‘verse number’.
This is bizarre.
How far will it go?
Probably indefinitely.
Is this a special ‘outline mode’?
I didn’t do anything special, didn’t select any special mode,
just hit Add New Post as usual.
It also fills in punctuation automatically.
When I make a left single quote ” it automatically
adds the quote at the other end, then lets me fill in between.

After publishing, I see the result no longer has the verse numbers on the left,
but otherwise shows the same formatting. After publishing, the empty sandwich of left and right single quotes became one right double quote.

Later after writing a couple of items, I actually like the automatic completion of html and punctuation. My old hands sometimes have trouble with the angle brackets and slashes. Think I’ll leave it, since I can’t figure out how to turn it off anyway.
