Substack is now following Facebook’s idiotic practice of keeping the SAME item on top of your feed for days at a time. The SAME item is never something you want, never something you actually read, and it’s usually stupid and pointless.
Newspapers didn’t follow this rule. When a story was continuous, with new events each day, the paper would focus on the story for several days. The top headline each day was the latest event. Papers NEVER used the same headline for a week! People expected to see WHAT’S HAPPENING NOW. Why bother to buy a new paper every day if it’s always the same?
JAPS ATTACK PEARL HARBOR happened once. If the paper ran the same headline for two weeks, readers would think a new attack happened each day.
Here’s the latest repeated stupidity from an important story on Spokane News, cast as a headline:

WHO MET ME ON 17TH AND SKIPWORTH?
I WANT TO YOU AGAIN.
CHIPOTLE BEEF DOWNY!
I have no idea what this means. It may be a fake personal message from a romance bot? Or a threat? It’s certainly not NEWS that random readers need to see every time they open the paper.
