Trillionth proof that media are shit.
CBS News cites sources like the Universal Postal Union to say that foreign shipments to US have dropped by 80% since Trump partly eliminated the “de minimis” exemption for lower-value imports. The provision was originally meant for tourists bringing back souvenirs like a bottle of wine, but its threshold gradually increased over the years. It was used extensively by Amazon and others to do mass shipments without the customs and tariffs normally triggered by mass shipments. Eliminating it was a good move no matter who did it, and the media would have applauded it loudly if the Correct Party had done it.

BUT: The post office employees at Reddit say they haven’t seen any decrease at all. One of them has a house on his route consistently receiving huge quantities of Temu packages, unchanged since the rule allegedly changed on Aug 1. Hundreds of Temu packages indicate a mass reshipper.
In other words, the “order” follows Trump’s tradition of issuing “orders” not meant to change anything.
