New crime, old failure of media

This is a new form of fraud! The report by KHQ is overly vague to protect identities, but the subject is clear enough. An older homeowner was at work, and his neighbor called to tell him that somebody was changing the locks on his house. There were also appraisers and others looking over the property.

It turns out a criminal in another state had managed to STEAL THE TITLE to the house, in a way that the report doesn’t specify. Is the county registrar of deeds taking bribes?

The owner eventually got his title back, again in an unspecified way.

This is why people stopped trusting mainstream media.

When a crime occurs, the report should be specific enough that you can figure out how to defend yourself. The defendant should be described accurately, and the method should also be described.

Here’s more on the subject from Rocket Mortgage. Rocket is selling title theft protection, but it’s still good info, and maybe the protection is a good idea!
