Biologists in Texas have found a rare crossbreed of a bluejay and a greenjay. The two species aren’t as closely related as their names would imply, but they can crossbreed.
Instead of simply finding the cross interesting and unusual, the UTexas biologists had to invoke “climate emergency” as the Universal Cause Of Everything.
We think it’s the first observed vertebrate that’s hybridized as a result of two species both expanding their ranges due, at least in part, to climate change.
Logically, at least in part means probably not, but an academic has to sing the required hymn and cry the required number of tears to keep up his status.
After 50 years in and around academia, I understand the motivation only too well. Still, I wish SOMEBODY would show just enough courage to AVOID singing the drably predictable hymn of praise to the Noble Patron.
