Why did Altman’s new style of predictive algorithm become a giant Wall Street bubble?
Prediction has been the PRIMARY purpose of calculation for thousands of years. Most formal math, and many measuring instruments, developed to predict astronomical patterns for religious purposes, first in Islam then copied by Christians.
Statistics was developed explicitly for betting. Analog computers have always been around in some form, first serving the astrologers. Analog turned hi-tech and electronic in the 1920s, working for prediction in engineering circles. Programmable digital computers started developing in the 1940s for ballistics, a predictive art, and continued developing for financial prediction. Banks have been using LLM-like predictive algos for 30 years, helping to spot patterns of fraud. Those algos work well. USBank’s algo prevented huge losses when it detected fraudulent use of my debit card.
More to the point, the first chatbot was Joseph Weizenbaum’s Eliza in 1964. Weizenbaum was NOT a Frisco tech demon. He was NOT a member of the CIA-sponsored drug den that gave birth to the tech demons. Weizenbaum was horrified when he saw that people treated Eliza as human.
Big question:
Given the long history of predictive math and predictive computing and chatbots, and given the long familiarity to bankers and bettors, why was Altman’s version the first to inflate a bubble? Why are countries competing feverishly to waste their entire resources and sacrifice their entire economies to Altman?
Big answer:
Because Altman’s Final Solution is EXTREMELY PRECISE AND EXPLICIT. He shouts it from the rooftops every day. He intends to destroy all jobs, governments, farms, businesses, factories, offices, and souls on earth. He is already stealing everything.
Wall Street loves murder and evil and destruction. The Dow is a murder meter.

The blue line is the Dow. The gray blob is homelessness in NYC.
The Dow goes up when people lose jobs and homes and civilization. Wall Street has exponential orgasms when Altman foreplays them with his intended goal of total obliteration, already well on the way to achievement.
