Suspicion?

Several of the writers I follow are suddenly saying the same thing about the Bush/Trump invasion of Venezuela. They’re implying that Trump had a good reason to invade and topple a foreign country.

This makes me suspicious. It feels like these folks are receiving the same signal. The pattern reminds me of 2023 when stout opponents of the Bush-Trump “virus” torture switched in unison to Trump cultists or Trump employees.

I don’t know conditions in Venezuela. I only know that we’ve done the same thing a hundred times before, in all Latin American countries and in Dixie, Russia, and a dozen middle eastern countries. In all of those places we claimed “democracy” was in danger, and we sent in armies or created color revolutions to establish “democracy”. In all of those places the new “democracy” was WORSE for most people than the existing “commie” or “fascist” or “authoritarian” government.

Most countries, including USA, experience bad and good rulers at different times. Conditions in another country are simply

NONE OF OUR GODDAMN BUSINESS.

We should be MINDING OUR OWN BUSINESS in both senses of the phrase. We should be rebuilding our OWN infrastructure and industry and culture. We should NEVER invade or alter another country. We can certainly influence them by shaping our trade. We can refuse to sell or buy. We can add tariffs to discourage, or offer a higher price to encourage. We SHOULDN’T impose a blockade and force others to obey the blockade.
