Every now and then I check the webpage of Mansfield Software, the maker of Kedit. For 20 years they’ve been trying to give up the ship, and each time they decide to keep supporting and selling just a little bit longer. I’ve never needed support because Kedit has never shown a single bug or defect in 40 years of CONSTANT usage. It still works fine in shitty Win 11, unlike some newer progs.
The latest update as of December 2025:

KEDIT for Windows is at this point a “legacy product”, kept available and supported on a very limited basis, primarily for the benefit of existing users, and we are no longer actively working on major new upgrades or features for KEDIT. We discourage purchases of KEDIT by new users not already familiar with the program. We currently plan to continue selling KEDIT for Windows through our web site until at least the end of 2026.
Support is provided by e-mail to support@kedit.com, and is only available on a limited, part-time basis. We plan to continue support for KEDIT for Windows until at least June 2027. Our support is now focused on KEDIT for Windows running on Windows 10 or Windows 11. Any new maintenance releases of KEDIT for Windows are expected to require Windows 11, or a 64-bit version of Windows 10.
Many of our customers use KEDIT on a daily basis, and depend on it to help them get their work done. Our plans are always subject to change, but we want to let you know about them for your own planning purposes. That’s why we began posting information about our plans for phasing out the program in the “What’s New” section of our web site beginning in November 2006, which is being brought up to date in this posting:

I use it on an hourly basis, not a daily basis!
A good tool never goes obsolete, no matter how fast the Tech Tyrants replace good tools with computer-breaking toxic shit that blocks all attempts to DO WORK.
Kedit is IRREPLACEABLE.
I’ve been using it exclusively since 1987. I’ve tried all the alleged replacements and substitutes over the years, and none of them come close. None of them have copied the ALL keyword or block editing. Those two features, used together, are unbelievably powerful.

Irrelevant sidenote: This item is clearly one of the Bot Attractors. It’s insignificant and has no connection to current affairs, so the bots have been congregating on it for a long time. After updating and reposting last night, it already gathered another bot “read”, while none of the more significant-looking items are touched.
Any read of this blog is a bot “read” unless seriously proved otherwise by hard evidence.
I’m not going to turn this one into a Bot Trap because Kedit is significant TO ME whether any other asshole cares about it.
