I got tired of the Brownstone bunch. Their founder did a fine job of exposing the Bush background of the Trump holocaust. The organization turned into a mutual admiration club for independent-sounding elites.
Now Brownstone is sending out a sales pitch for more support. It says three things. (1) The “virus” holocaust is done, which seems to be true as of this microsecond. (2) Brownstone helped to end it, which is not true. It ended because Trump got bored, as psychopaths always do. (3) The sales pitch: Governments are preparing a new economic crash and lockdown.
HOLD ON THERE, DUDE! Your people are in the Trump administration now. Whatever the admin is doing now, you’re part of it. I gave you money and signed your petition, hoping (but not expecting) that you would try to change things. Now you’re in power and you’re still complaining about the evils of power.
Fuck off. You’re asking me to stop you before you kill again.
This is the essence of Parkinson’s Law. Bureaucracies and NGOs never go away. They start with a real purpose and sometimes accomplish the purpose. AFTER the first purpose is finished they don’t declare victory and go home. They find a new purpose, make it sound equally urgent, and keep growing. The new purpose is NEVER important and OFTEN evil.
Classic examples of each type:
EPA’s original mission was controlling pollution. In the first few years they made a huge difference, ESPECIALLY in lead and car exhaust. Lead is the worst of all pollutants. By 1975 the original purpose was done, so they held a Brownstone-style conference to select CO2 as the new purpose. Since then EPA has done massive damage to the world, INCREASING the emission of real pollutants and destroying entire economies, in order to be sure plants can’t breathe.
The March of Dimes was founded with FDR’s endorsement. It crowdfunded research to cure polio. CROWDFUNDING WORKED. Polio was cured. This left MoD with no purpose, so they switched to a vague combination of birth defects and mental stuff like autism. Unlike EPA they haven’t done any harm except by wasting money that could have been more useful.
