Today is listed as Impersonate Authority Day. Most listed Days were either invented by some NGO to “raise awareness” for their cause, or invented by the prolific publicist Adrienne Koopersmith. This day uniquely invites you to commit a serious crime!
One of the Official Day websites says:
This one I have tracked back to Holidays on Earth, but I didn’t find it elsewhere, except on other websites that listed every holiday they could find. It could be encouraging people to influence confidence when they need it even when they don’t feel it, or it could be mocking people who impersonate real authority for less sane reasons. If you’re going to do that, make sure you don’t hurt anyone and remember “A liar is never believed even if he tells the truth.”
You can hear the editor’s frustration: required to write something about each day but unable to trace this day, and properly refusing to endorse it. Good work, anonymous editor!
