Here’s another example of architects creating a pleasant harmony with existing houses. The lot to the left of this house has always been empty. It’s a triangle in a tricky spot, so it probably wasn’t enticing to builders.

A few months ago a builder put up a duplex in the lot. Google didn’t catch it yet, and my camera isn’t working, so I had some fun making a quick 3d model and photoshopping it onto the picture. The new duplex isn’t occupied yet, seems to be still finishing up interior and connecting utilities.

It matches the window pattern of its neighbor, and also agrees with some 2007 flips in the area, adding a big two-story wing to an existing small house.

The new duplex gives me a positive resonance beyond infill esthetics. Maybe it resembles the duplex in Stillwater where I started living an independent adult life after prison.
