Sounds good…

As I’ve observed a trillion times, England’s system works. It worked in 1776 and it still works. We replaced it with a system that was EXPLICITLY DESIGNED TO FAIL, solely to benefit the richest fuckheads and tax evaders.

In the parliamentary system a PM is more like a foreman than a CEO. He is elevated by the regular workers of the party, and he can be replaced EASILY if he’s not getting the results the party wants. He isn’t jailed or deposed, he just steps back into regular member status. Parliament can steer out of a skid fast. In our fucked system, a president is safe for 4 years whether he’s useful or senile or evil or just the wrong leader for a new situation. The only way out is death.

Via CourthouseNews, Burnham’s proposals sound pretty damn good.

= = = = = START QUOTE:

He said he would decentralize power … by giving regional mayors and local authorities greater control over transport, housing and economic policy. He has also proposed creating a second prime ministerial office in Manchester, dubbed “No. 10 North.”

His agenda includes Britain’s largest council house building program since the years after World War II, greater public control of water, energy and transport services, lower net migration, welfare reform, and maintaining Labour’s fiscal rules while ruling out increases in income tax, value-added tax and National Insurance payroll taxes.

= = = = = END QUOTE.

He has also said he will scrap previous proposals to mandate digital ID, which sounds especially good to me right now.

Pure New Deal. Decentralize, give power to cities while expecting results, build more housing, strengthen industry.

We’ll see if he can do it.
