Tabling vs tabling

New PM Burnham is starting right and speaking straight. We don’t know how far he’ll go, but he does have the backing of his party with a good majority in Parliament. He is proposing a new direction, which in Britspeak is tabling a proposal.

Burnham says it’s time to “end rough sleeping”. US governments at all levels are firmly committed to endless talking about talking about talking about nothing in an infinite recursive recursed non-function. They can’t even say the word homeless.

This year’s talkabout pretended to be leading toward a referendum for more police and more jail space.

Today: Spokane County commissioner reached a consensus Tuesday to shelve the possibility of a civic public safety matter that had been the underpinning of much of the 2026 election season. The measure could have included a new jail as well as enhanced services for behavior health.

In Yankspeak tabling a proposal means killing it.

Metanote: Twice today I’ve turned county commission actions into pointless pondering on opposite meanings. The two ponderings have opposite meanings.
