20 years ago the platonists kicked Pluto out of the planetary pantheon. They’re still defending the ruinous decision, still oblivious to the need for trust and communication.

Note well the sneaky hidden assertion in the last nasty sentence. It implies that science is a force like gravity, which moves on its own without any human influence.
Planets move on their own. LANGUAGE does not move on its own. Language develops according to the HUMAN need for communication and meaning. Platonist assholes tell us that math is reality and thus physics is reality. Vicious lie. Science and math are forms of language, determined by human consensus at each moment, NOT determined by dictionaries or Academies.
As long as science sticks to platonism, thinking and talking in arrogant abstractions, people will distrust and hate science. You’d think 2020 would have taught the institutions something but obviously they learned backwards, just as they did after Sputnik.
We name and describe things for lots of reasons. Why do we name planets and stars? To make science understandable to ordinary people. To teach and SELL science.
When we take away familiar names for things we are LECTURING the people from on high. We are ARROGANT and SECRETIVE. We know the private ciphers. You don’t own the necessary credentials and devices to authenticate your existence.
Planets have a far longer and deeper human connection than any technical invention. For thousands of years we’ve treated the visible planets as characters or gods. When alidades and telescopes added Uranus and Neptune, they were added to the pantheon. The same thing happened when Pluto was found in 1930. He was named after a Roman god who didn’t already have a planetary home.
